mg2.org Info Release Dear mg2.org user, Thank you for being a part of the social community here at mg2. We hope you've found our services useful and adequate. Due to mounting security and cost concerns, we have to stop offering free hosting services to the public. Unfortunately, this means you. The good news is the mg2 organization's servers will continue to exist and be paid for, because of this, we will offer for-pay hosting to existing members at a flat rate of $8/mo. You can pay as an interim to finding a new web host, or you can continue to pay mg2 and stay here. However, once you leave, you will not be welcome back, as mg2 has no current plans to allow outside people to sign up for commercial hosting. Because we do not have "Plesk" or an equivalent, all work on our servers is performed by highly competent human system administrators. As a result we can not be as price competitive as some of the other web hosts. What we can promise you is more of the same. mg2.org will continue to be located in a top quality data center with a fast connection to the internet, and backup power. Because we have no plans to grow our business, the quality of service will not only stay the same it will actually increase as you would be a paying customer. You will have 30 days from today to access your content. After which, your content will be removed. Those of you that will not be transferring over to paid customers, please remember to back everything up. The only way to pay for the service will be through PayPal, as setting up the infrastructure would add more cost and take more time. Those of you who donated will be able to get extensions past the 30 days if required. Extensions will not extend past 120 days from today. To subscribe (via paypal), please use the following URL: Please specify your mg2 account's name in the comments field. We at mg2 have tried our best to be here for you in the past and we're proud to have been part of your life. Whether you're an artist, musician, programmer, web designer, writer, or someone who just wanted an outlet, you've made our lives richer and proven that the internet truly is powerful when it's in the hands of good people. For those of you who think you're entitled to free internet, we honestly believe that you are. It just can't come from us anymore. Kind Regards,Michael Gregorowicz the mg2 organization |
